Sealing your paving

C.E.L. now stocks two different types of sealer for your concrete paving:

1. SEALKOTE PU DESCRIPTION

A water based sealer which, when applied to paving bricks, will enhance their appearance slightly without leaving a shiny, gloss finish.

PREPARATION

  • Ensure that the pavers are clean by scrubbing with a scrubber fitted with a soft bristle brush
  • If pavers are at all soiled, use appropriate chemicals to clean
  • Rinse well with clean water to remove all traces of cleaner and to speed up drying.

APPLICATION

  • Mix the two components of Sealkote PU only when ready to start sealing
  • Add contents from small bottle to the large contents and shake well for at least 3 minutes to allow reaction to take place
  • Once mixed, the new mixture should be used within 2 hours in cool conditions (up to 20 deg c) and 1.5 hours when hotter
  • Apply the mixture using a PVA roller for rough surfaces or a mohair roller for smooth surfaces
  • Roll in the direction of pavers for first coat and at right angles for the second coat
  • Leave to dry for 1-2 hours between coats or until surface is visibly dry
  • Finally, leave for its final cure overnight before opening to traffic.

MAINTENANCE

Wet mop with a small quantity of liquid detergent. Recoating may be necessary after 3-5 years depending on severity of traffic. Simply wash down and recoat. One coat may suffice.

COVERAGE

Coverage of 7-8 square meters per litre should be budgeted on for the first coat when applying to C.E.L.’s pavers. If using to seal C.E.L.‘s range of Exposed Aggregate pavers, up to double the amount of sealer may be required.
